Bastards of Funk

ImageSweden based “Bastards of Funk”, started his musical career in the early 90's, with interest in music rooted in both the classical and electronic realm. The interest accelerated when he discovered the sound of artists like Laurent Garnier, Dave Angel and Carl Cox. Their syncopated, rhythmic music inspired him to pursue the art of producing, but also trying to get the music out to a broader public.
Bastards of Funk is a collective of three things: one “crazy swede” mixed together with a midi controller and a computer. Together they form a sort of symbiosis. If supplied with ideas, the hardware will assist you in making them real! His undeniable interest in music, technology and science has resulted in a passion for electronic music, which embodies all three fields into one artful form. Music that feeds the soul.

By no means a rookie in the business, he has produced music under different monikers for over 14 years, everything ranging from drum n bass to ambient to techno, but always comes back to what he loves the most: house in all its shapes and forms. His perhaps greatest success was “Relentless” released on the Swedish label “Frosty Music”, a track which still resides in the top five all time bestsellers on djdownload prog/tribal chart. Between 1997-2000 he hosted a weekly radio show, called ”Deepsessions” which was the perfect channel to spread electronic music in all shapes and forms, as well as getting ideas for productions of his own. This inevitably led to start Djing at local clubs and also playing music live.
What started out as a pure hobby is something more today, "It's part of who I am". "Music is something so fundamental in our lives, yet the complexity of sound generation is incredible. What essentially is nothing more than simple mathematical "building blocks" at the beginning, builds up to something that can be felt and enjoyed by so many. That idea still makes me interested in doing what I do."

With many releases on highly respected labels, it has led to appearances on both the Swedish radio and television with videos aired on MTV, as well as playing live at the biggest festivals in Sweden. His tracks have received huge support from DJs such as Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Papa and Satoshie Tomiie just to name a few.
